Hi all,
In my tree I have  a John Rowland bapt. 20-11-1791 in Buckland, Berks (s/o Edward & Mary).

I have not been able to find a marriage for him but believe he married about  1825is possibly a Mary.

In the 1851 & 1861 census he is a widr and  lists Buckland as his place of birth and has a g/son Daniel living with him in 1861

I wouldld appreciate some help in finding his marriage.

(His g/son was aged 13 in the 1861 census and born in Stanford, Berks but having looked at the transcripts for Stanford-in-the-Vale failed to find him and wonder if his name is recorded as "Rowland" for convenience sake"

Looking at the Stanford baptisms I have found 3 children bapt. with parents John & Mary (1817, 1820 & 1822). I already had Elizabeth's bapt. in Buckland.

Still no marriage if correct parents.

Daniel "Rowland" could be Daniel Cox son of his daughter Anne who married William Cox.

He is with his father a widower in 1851 age 6 - born circa 1844.

Anne must have died between 1844 and 1851 - not found it yet.

Daniel was baptised 23 November 1844 Stanford in the Vale son of William and Ann Cox.

Unknown if George age 7 in 1841 is their son or grandson - he dies 1849 age 16 buried 13 August.
daughter Elizabeth would have been old enough to have children 1833

A copy of the death certificate may give the parents or who was present at death.

William 1817 marries Charlotte Seymour 5 November 1846 at Great Coxwell, he was of Stanford, his death recorded Great Coxwell 1892.

Still looking for parents of John Rowland

Daughter Sarah who married James Hudson/Hutson 28 July 1840 the witnesses are William Rowland and Ann Rowland her brother and sister.
It also names John Rowland as her father.

James Hutson/Hudson died 1855 he was 38. Sarah Hutson/Hudson then married George Herman/Hearman 1857.

1851 James Hudson 34 and Sarah 28 are in Marcham with children John 9, Elizabeth 7 and George aged 4.

Still a mystery of when & who John married.

The only possible marriage I have found is for John Rowland, widower of Newnham to Mary Platt 17-6-1811 in Nately Hants by Licence.

This parish is some distance from Buckland and Stanford in the Vale.
