Accidental death. San Diego
« on: Saturday 02 August 25 14:17 BST (UK) »
Hope I’m OK to ask this one….I have a small obituary relating to a relative John Charles Ibbotson who was killed on 18 Sept 1947 aged 10 after being hit by a truck whilst on his bike on the McCandless Blvd & Jensen St San Diego . I’m wondering if there any newspaper/inquest articles relating to this accident. Regards

Many thanks for the info. I note the obituary say’s he was a native of Alabama but the newspapers say he was born Alhambra which I believe is in Los Angeles and seems be more correct ?

I note the articles say foster parents for Mr & Mrs Richardson. But family Search give birth / death records as father Ibbotson & mother Underhill. Grace Margaret Underhill was married to George Hudson Ibbotson at time of John Charles Ibbotson’s birth but married to James S Richardson at time of his death. I’m trying to find something that will confirm George Hudson Ibbotson was his biological father? Regards

On the 1940 census, Grace is with George but no children listed. On 1950 census, George is married to Delette Cecilia Coy, married in Nevada, 1945.
