Pulloxhill Parish Registers
« on: Friday 01 August 25 17:24 BST (UK) »
Can anyone tell me if I am able to view the church registers for St James, Pulloxhill please, preferably online but otherwise in person in Bedfordshire. I have seen pages on Ancestry and FindMyPast that tell me that Charles Arnold was baptised there on 29 July 1810 and that his parents were William and Elizabeth Arnold but I would love to get a digital copy of the actual page in the register. I would also like to look further back through the register although I think his parents may have moved to Pulloxhill at some stage. They married in Husborne Crawley and Elizabeth was, I believe, Irish.

You can download from https://archive.org/details/bedfordshirepari22bedf/page/n5/mode/2up?view=theater. These go up to 1812. It is a transcript, but that's all you'll get as Bedfordshire Archives policy is not to make the original registers available to anybody, so you can't see them even if you visit.

StevenG thank you very much for the link and the information. I have never heard of a County Archive refusing to make parish registers available for a personal visit but if that is there policy I don't suppose we can do anything about it. It is good to have the transcript for Charles. Not anything more than I can get on Ancestry from an information point of view but another corroboration source. Thanks again.

So you think William married Elizth Showlen/Skowlen 1795?

They bapt there;
Harriot 2 Aug 1796
Charlotte 24 Dec 1798
Charlotte 3 March 1803
Wm 30 July 1804

Depending on when William 1804 was born the next child was William bapt  3 February 1805  Pulloxhill
Only 7 mths later?
Then we have;
Jas 26 Jul 1807 and Chas 29 Jul 1810 and Geo 25 Dec 1811

OK 1st William bapt Husborne Crawley was buried there  8 January 1805  Parents William/Elizabeth

They must have moved quickly to bapt Pulloxhill a William a few weeks later!
