His first wife Mary Jane Langley nee Wilkins died 27 January 1926 age 50 daughter of

William Wilkins and Emma.

The death certificate is signed by John as her husband but he had moved to Chicago 1923 and was listed as divorced by 1930 census, so he must have gone back to Canada to arrange her funeral, his son was still in Canada at the time, although he was in the USA by 1940.
