Thanks, I have seen the article. Amazing that governments can make laws that are meant to protect, and then years later try to prosecute innocents who were embroiled and trapped in a nightmare, not of their own making....but by the stupidity of lawmakers, not having the foresight into pre-empting possibilities that could exist in the future, by their shortsightedness and/or need to try and protect others they may know, who would not be happy with their private lives being made public.

Many of the old laws were made to protect the interests of Royalty/Land Owners/Rich Influentials to ensure that their lives and interests were not affected in any adverse way.

Now we have DNA, there should be no hiding place; but everything should be in place, in the first instance to ensure that the Adoptees are totally protected from every angle  being put in place to stop such instances  create a situation of marrying a sibling/half sibling/absent parent or child -AS is possible..and not as far fetched as could be thought, when the topic is first broached!

I'm in N.E. England. Saw this story here.... Downloaded, and followed it.

I was adopted and campaigned for Certificate of birth, first for this possible reason; secondly for medical history from parent as our son needed lots of care after birth, and I thought there may have been something in my parents notes to help. Long story...Adopted parents said my mother was young and died. That was a pack of porkies she was 27 and Sgt in the Army! Very much alive and I found her 33 years after my birth. Caused a lot of ill feeling with Adopted mum and myself, as she knew her name, possibly address; and she attended the Court on the day of the hearting. I was fuming. Her silence could have killed my son....and she was keeping quiet, because she had paid for the adoption certificate? And didn't want me to find the bio family? Why would a mother (who had lost her own daughter; replace her with another)....keep quiet when a next baby in the next generation needed medical help? Beggars belief.

And so....when I hear of bad laws, being passed with little advance planning or seeing where problems can be for Adoptees and their families - my blood boils. The fact that the Australian Government were 'Thinking about prosecuting two innocent (ignorant people)' not knowing they were related....WHEN THE GOV. knew they were siblings....is horrendous. Someone needs to be prosecuted....and it's not the couple who married. It's the GOVERNMENT who passed the law of NOT ALLOWING Adopters access to their birth Certificates and background information of bio parents. on BOTH sides. Which I've always thought needs completing.   

In this day and age with Free love; Bed hopping; One Night Stands; Drugs and Drinking orgies where they don't know who they have slept with; Surrogacy of one, two or three participants of Carrier of baby; sperm and egg donors - who may have many children dotted around. The mind boggles at the chaos waiting to happen in the near future.  Add on rapes, sex trafficking; and incest and I think you know the size of the problems that are hovering in the ether waiting to drop Bomb Shells into unsuspecting people's lives.......  and Governments sit scratching their heads and do nothing to stop this type of heartache.
