Thomas/Cole of Begelly
« on: Saturday 26 July 25 12:22 BST (UK) »
My 3 x great-grandfather John Thomas, from St Issell's Parish in Pembrokeshire - married Hannah Cole in Begelly, Pembrokeshire 30 Oct 1830

I found him dying at Underfoothill, Stepaside on 27 Jul 1845 and buried at St Issells on 29 Jul 1845

In the 1851 Census, his widow was still living at Underfoothill with their sons Thomas Cole (b 1831), William (b 1836), George (b 1840) and Hannah (b 1843). By 1856, the family had relocated to Blaenafon, Monmouthshire from where I write

I believe I have found a Begelly baptism record for John Thomas from 19 Oct 1800 alongside a brother George on the same day; they were the children of John & Elizabeth Thomas - the only suitable marriage I can find in the area is the marriage of John Thomas & Elizabeth Bad(h)am on 9 Sep 1792 at Begelly

I’d be grateful if anyone knows of this connection that they please get in touch

Thank you
Richard J B Thomas

Just noting the witness names on that 1830 marriage: George Thomas and John Thomas. Both able to sign their names, with very similar handwriting.

Yes Shaun - I noted that too - could be the father and brother. George appears to have lived at Wooden
