Michael Woolaghan marriage - Whitehaven Dist. 1883
« on: Saturday 26 July 25 09:34 BST (UK) »
Morning all,

I have a marriage of a Michael Woolaghan to Frances Hall in the district of Whitehaven.  The marriage took place in QJune 1883 (Volume 10b, Page 951).

I know I can get a certificate for this, but I was wondering whether anyone may have access to the records?  The family were living in Cleator, I believe.

Any help would be gratefully received - thank you!

With such a high page number for the entry, it is likely to be a civil marriage.  :-\
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!

I was also going to post that BB  ;D

Marriage locator has
GRO Index 1883 quarter 2, volume 10b, page 951:

Sorry, we cannot locate the church for this marriage. The entry is located between entries for Whitehaven (RD: Whitehaven) and Bolton (RD: West Ward).

This seems as though it would confirm that  :-\

No help with the marriage record I’m afraid but just in case you don't have this:

30 May 1891: Whitehaven Advertiser and Cleator Moor and Egremont Observer
Quote
WOOLAGHAN. On the 27th inst., at Cleator Moor, Michael, son of Mr. Michael Woolaghan, labourer, aged 1 year

Well, isn't that just typical?!  ::)

Thank you for sharing the information - I'd never have known.

Thanks also to Alan for the announcement. I didn't have that, so it is useful to add.
