Hi All
Just wondering if anyone with local knowledge would know if an ancestor was living in The Faythe, William Street, High Street and Byrnes Lane, where would they possible be buried. Some of the male ancestors were sailors. I have found their civil reg death details and the years range from 1877 to early 1900's. Wafer is the surname.
Regards

There are multiple ancient graveyards in Wexford town, closed to most burials late 1890s [St. Michael's, St. John's, St. Patricks's, St. Selskar's, St. Mary's]. Burial registers for some online at Wexford archives - but many burials unregistered. For the south of the town there were also old graveyards in Mauldlintown and Drinagh. I have relatives from The Faythe buried in Drinagh. Any of these are possible, with St. Michael's being the closest to The Faythe. In the late 1890s a large municipal graveyard was established in Crosstown and the old ones within the town closed to most new burials. Crosstown (St. Ibar's) remains the main graveyard for Wexford town and vicinity. Burial records well kept and available at County Council offices.
All that said, if the family had an established burial plot somewhere else, then they could be there.
FindaGrave has (some) transcripts for these graveyards.
Finally,
many (actually the vast majority), of graves/burials in these graveyards never had a permanent marker, or one that has been lost to vegetation.
