I have an AEG washing machine that I bought when I lived in the Netherlands.
Instructions are (naturally!) in Dutch :D

But I have sorted the useful functions in Engliah.
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

Glad you got it sorted L.M.
My washer was making odd bumpy knocking noises ,I think I might have overloaded it ,however it finished the wash and we will see when I do another load.
If in doubt I weigh myself with then without holding the washing but big towels and a bathrobe might have been too heavy as I did not weigh in !

A bit of rain today but some sunshine too.
Hope all are O.K.

My sewing machine off again tomorrow ,not working well at all.
Found a little loose spring inside where the spool slots in.
Hobkirks are picking it up, they have a shop/ repair service in Blackburn.

Had a really good laugh this tea time.A shot of a new series of “ Mrs.Brown” .
She is  on a mobility scooter in her house and it behaved just as mine did——
shot forward and created havoc !
I know the feeling!

Well off to bed .
Hope everyone has a good night .
Viktoria.

Viktoria, it's not recommended to put just towels in the washing machine, it throws the balance out. I've had the washer stopping mid spin when I've done that, had to rearrange them and give it another go! I think it's probably because they absorb a lot of water and if your bathrobe is towelling that would too.

I always do a separate towel-only wash, perhaps with the odd hankie thrown in, but have never found it to create any problems, so I'm wondering what the reasoning behind that recommendation is.

No washing today - there are too many threats of heavy showers.

It's as I said - they hold a lot of water and can put the balance of the machine out when spinning. Viktoria mentioned bumping and knocking noises so that could be the reason for it.

I do separate towel washes when the family comes, I have never had a problem either (says she tempting fate).

I never worry about the weight either, my ten year old Bosch has an automatic load sensor and adjusts the amount of water necessary. It also has unbalanced load detection, if it detects an imbalance it repeatedly stops and starts the  spin until the washing is evenly distributed in the drum.

I always wash my sheets separately  perhaps with a towel  thrown in, I always seem to be washing,  even hand-washing if weather allows , must go back to my childhood days when  the horrible people downstairs in   our house took away my mum's washing line,  I had to hump a 9lb bag of washing  to the local laundrette , my dear mum  said it had to be 9lb, I  HATED  it, now I have the freedom to wash whenever  I want to,  bliss

I have just lost a reply —- I usually weigh myself holding the washing then just me and so get the load weight, so why I did not do that I don’t know !
I will try again with a weighed load ,on a fine day !
It will be a problem if the machine needs a service ,the utility room is long and narrow, washer against the end wall ,so much tio move to get at it and bring it from under the shelf that is all along two sides of the room .
I must read the manual, can’t remember what it says re towels.
Glad to have the advice though, thanks.

A dark wet day here but as yet no torrential rain .
An unexpected visitor this morning ,rather difficult—-her views and mine differ by a million miles !
So all behind this afternoon.

There was a news flash the other day re the tragic Air India crash ,it said one of the crew had severed the fuel, pipe, but nothing more about it .

Well thanks for the advice , I will remember it - well if I write it on   the instructions booklet!
