Can anyone give me any info on this chap, he married Lilian Stowe in Ipswich in the June quarter of 1915.

He is not with Lilian & children on the 1921 census - she is with her parents.

Have you bought a copy of the marriage cert to find his fathers name?

I see Lilian was Lilian F C Hunt on the marriage index so is the 1894 birth in Cosford

Link to an existing tree on Ancestry with info about him.  Allegedly born 1889 as James George Desborough - see freebmd.  He was a registrar of BMD per 1939 register

I cannot see how they have arrived at that conclusion as the parents marriage was James George Desborough to Caroline Eliza Collis in 1884.  All census entries show him as Desborough as does the 1939 register & he died as Desborough 1955 Wandsworth

They also show the Hunt children as Desborough Hunt??

marriage in 1940...second daughter(Irene K) of the late Capt. Desborough-Hunt, Seaforth Highlanders of Chelmsford.

James George Desborough died 15.7.1955 aged 66 - so was alive in 1940 when daughter married

He left a will - probate to Derek Desborough laboratory assistant

His baptism record is online

b 29.4.1889 bap 8.7.1889 Weybridge Surrey.  Parents James George Desborough & Caroline Eliza.  Fathers occ shown as "Agent"

Marriage 1922 James G Desborough to Edith Chiverton

A different tree on Ancestry has the same parents for JGH as for JGD but only has his marriage to Edith Chiverton??

I wonder if anyone has purchased a birth cert for any of Lilian's children who were given the DESBOROUGH name to see if a father is named?

James George HUNT and Lilian were married in 1915.  The children born to that marriage were:

Then five years later:

As CaroleW has already said, James is not with the family in 1921 and the surname is just HUNT, so there is a reasonable chance that somebody else was the father of Alan and Freda and that is where the DESBOROUGH name has come from.

James and Lilian divorced in 1928 and that record might confirm which children were fathered by James.  Lilian's second middle name is incorrect.

So there appears to have been 2 other men in Lilian's life - Mr Diggins & Mr Desborough
