Well as the width is less than the length I feel you could lay the cover on the bed and get the duvet in sideways as much easier in a bigger opening .
You can reach deeper in to the corners with the shorter measurement.
I believe some covers are like that.
I can reach much further in when using home made  side opening covers made to match curtains I have also made.
Much less creasing which is a bonus after having ironed them.
When I consider the bed making with numerous blankets etc I tell myself off when losing my temper  with duvet covers!
Viktoria.

I need a telling off then Viktoria,  duvets annoy me but I only have one in the spare room, there must be an art in it I am sure, you wouldn't see chamber maids getting into a fight with  duvet.
I am having a fight with my computer  printer at the moment, for years I could cut and paste and do all sorts of things from a computer programme, now it doesn't  work so I  have made myself look sillier than usual by volunteering  to do posters, grrrr!.

Well, a blitz on two of my wardrobes.
I have been really ruthless and now have 46,yes 46 empty hangers .The
clothes much too big for me , just hope I don’t gain weight.
Another two to go but they are more outdoor clothes , I hate getting rid of good clothes but most of those are also far too big ,well only an 8-10 now.

A cooler day here heavy , rain in the night  so the gardens will be happy .

Well ,time for bed  but but a quick bedroom tidy , a few clothes needing to be put away .
I will finish my enjoyable book no doubt tonight .

Hope all have a good restful night.
Viktoria.

My daughter's university boyfriend came from Finland and his duvet covers had, I think, been made by his mother.  She had put gaps in the side seams part way down the cover so that you could put your hands in and pull the duvet through.  It worked really well.  I hate putting covers on duvets and have duvets only on our guest beds, so am quite happy with our sheets and light blankets.  There's a certain amount of satisfaction in making hospital corners with your sheets and blankets, as we were taught at boarding school.  If you didn't do them correctly you had to pull the bedding apart and start again from scratch.  We soon learned!

It's cooler today with a very light sprinkle of rain from time to time.  Our first potatoes were dug up yesterday.  Mmm! Rather better than those tasteless but expensive Jersey potatoes. The outdoor tomatoes are almost ready and I can see that they are all going to ripen at the same time.  ::)  French beans are looking good and the onions have now been lifted and are drying ready for storage.  I wish I know how to make those strings of onions like the French onion sellers used to bring on their bikes.  Do they still do that or is it yet another thing that Brexit has knocked on the head?

I had a blitz on my shirts!
I rarely wear long-sleeved shirts these days, and some of my short-sleeved shirts haven;t been worn for years!
After a trip to the local Hospice Shop, I counted 34 empty hangers!

Didn't you think of cutting and turning them into short sleeves  I used to turn collars and cuffs years ago, made a shirt last longer

Some no longer fitted - shrunk in the wardrobe! ;D
Many I didn't like any more.
I think 3 went in the bin! Due to discolouration of collars, worn cuffs, etc.

Not sure if this helps with the duvet problem but this is how I do it :
Turn the cover inside out (before ironing!). Reach down to the bottom corners of the cover and grasp the corners of the duvet through the cover. Lift the duvet and shake the cover down, then put it on the bed to pull it down if necessary and straighten. You don't need to be tall to do this, I'm quite petite!
