Details of Hubert Claude Harris' Boer War service:

He attested for the Imperial Yeomanry 22nd May 1902 at Aldershot.

He was Trooper, 45087, 38th Battalion, Imperial Yeomanry

His service record was:
home: 22nd May 1902-26th May 1902; 5 days
South Africa:  27 May 1902-31 October 1902; 158 days

The Second Boer War ended 31st May 1902, so HCH must have arrived in SA after the end of the war.

He was discharged 31 October 1902 at his own request at Delfontein CC [site of the Imperial Yeomanry Field Hospital].

His intended residence was Johannesburg.

28 May 1902: Liverpool Daily Post
Quote
TROOPS FOR THE FRONT.
Yesterday, in beautiful weather, the 37th and 38th Battalions Imperial Yeomanry left Aldershot Camp, and proceeded from Farnborough Station by special trains to Southampton, where they embarked on the Orotava for conveyance to South Africa. The last train steamed out of the station just after nine o'clock, the men being heartily cheered.

Added: there are various reports from September 1902 of the arrival in England of the returning 38th battalion of the Imperial Yeomanry aboard the transport ship Palawan.

Added: HCH must have arrived in SA before 23rd June because Orotava sailed for England on that data carrying Lord Kitchener.

Added: Orotava arrived Table Bay June 16th.
