There's banns at St B, Bishopsgate on 16, 23, 30 Oct 1842 as well.
And a set in December 1841, where George is George Recks Wright. A note in the margin says married 27 March 1842, but that has been crossed out. Did they turn up to the church on that date, but one of the congregation could give just cause or impediment? Link if you have access to Ancestry

Of the first set (June 1839), the 3rd reading doesn't have vicar's initials by date, maybe that never happened because of objection at 2nd reading?

Was Harriet's mother still alive and someone was objecting to what would have been a bigamous marriage? Otherwise why all these failed attemps?

Thank you everyone for trying to help.

It's so confusing isn't it.  I found all the Banns and didn't know what to make of it.  Elizabeth Simpson was married previously - to someone called Cannon but I can't find their marriage.  Perhaps he wasn't actually dead when she married George.  I have seen this before on another branch of my tree.  It's also annoying knowing where they lived in 1841 but the census hasn't survived for their street - it might have shown other children/relatives.

Harriet's son (George) was born illegitimately and she married Robert Wolfe later.  I have had contact with a decendent of this George.  Far too many George's!

I have found James b1840 on the 1861 census - and a possible for Alfred but I'm not 100% certain it's the right one.  I would love to know what happened to George b1800.
