Anonymous History of Scotland
« on: Monday 07 July 25 14:13 BST (UK) »
I gather that there is an account of the murder of Sir John Carmichael by some Border reivers in 1600. It appears in the 'Anonymous History of Scotland.' There is said to be a version of the event held by the National Library of Scotland. I  can't seem to locate it. Can anyone help?
Cheers,
Bob

Suggest that you direct your enquiry to the National Library of Scotland, who are more likely to know the answer than anyone else.

See https://www.nls.uk/contact/ - there is a form for asking your question online.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Check out para 16 -
https://archive.org/stream/upperwardlanark01murrgoog/upperwardlanark01murrgoog_djvu.txt

Don't know if it includes the detail you were hoping from the "Anonymous History ...." but it describes the murder.

Added - see the last 2 sentences of para 15 re. provenance/source of the description of the murder.
