59th Regiment of Foot Service Records?
« on: Saturday 05 July 25 00:50 BST (UK) »
My 4x great grandfather George Parker, b. London, Middx., abt. 1789, f. John Parker, was, according to censuses and his death certificate, a Chelsea Pensioner (Out) who had served as a Private with the 59th Foot. To date the only two military records I’ve turned up for him (on Ancestry) relate to pension dates and payments. Is anyone able to help me find any service records for him please.
Somerset and Wiltshire: Rodgers, Wilkins, Maundrill, Tucker, Adlam, Carey, Butcher, Fleetwood AND Scotland: Rodgers

He was awarded the Peninsular War medal with clasps for Nivelle and Nive (if it's the right George Parker! )

Thank you for this. The dates and rank look right (his pension was awarded in 1816) and so far I’ve only come across one George Parker in the 59th at this time so I think it’s reasonable to assume this is my guy.

Wounded in neck and loss of one eye.

A cork cutter, born Loughton, Yorkshire, not London, according to this record:

"Loughton" is most likely Laughton en le Morthen near Rotherham.

1789 baptism: George Parker son of John and Faith

This should be of interest: mention of Pilkington and the action on 10 December 1813 in which GP was wounded:
