my Grt Grandfather Hugh Ferguson volunteered along with 5 others from Beith to go fight in the BOER war, the only info is   [they were accepted at Ayr on saturday for duty in south Africa ,Privates Hugh
Ferguson, Geo Higgins ,Wm Harrington ,Alexander Love ,Robt Gibson ,Terrence McCabe]  D Coy 1st VB Royal Scots Fusiliers 1900-01
