John Wilson 1901-1964 - Wick
« on: Friday 04 July 25 15:44 BST (UK) »
Trying to find where John Wilson was born and a date in 1901. Parents were John Wilson (clerk) and Catherine Fraser, and later Fermor?

Lived in Wick, married Annie Bain in 1932

Died in Wick in 1964

Can anybody help?

Hi, couple of questions. Have you got both the marriage and death certs for John Wilson, if so can you please reply with full details of each.

I can find no evidence of Catherine Fraser ever marrying John Wison, and when she died in 1947 the registration only records surnames Fraser & Fermor, no Wilson.

Also noticed when John Wilson died in 1964 in Wick he is also recorded as Fermor.

Its as I thought, a few porkies told. His mother Kate(Catherine) married Percy Harry Fermor in Wick in 1905. Your John was born prior to this marriage as per ref below.

Found Him.

His birth is registered as John Wilson Fraser in Wick. Date of birth 8th May 1901. He is illegitimate , There is an RCE (Register of corrected Entries) attached to his birth naming John Wilson as his father.

Hope this helps,

Info only, John's mother Catherine was born prior to her mother marrying in 1877 Hugh Fraser & Elizabeth Shearer.

Catherine registered as both Fraser & Shearer in 1874 Wick.
