Fred Jones
« on: Thursday 03 July 25 15:21 BST (UK) »
I’m trying to find out the date my Grandfather died.
Born 05/02/1914 in Stockport, Cheshire.
Was born 6 Hulme St, Stockport. Then lived at 30 Briscoe St, Stockport. The last known address is 28 Crowther St, Stockport in 1947 when his wife Bridget o/w Delia died. Then he became a merchant Seaman.
I’m led to believe he died around 1967 possibly in London. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I seen this but this was altrincham. Stockport has its own crematorium. I’m sure if he’d have been cremated they would have used Stockport.
I’m thinking if he died in London he may of been cremated there but I’ve no way of finding out.
I think the only way I could find out would be pay to view them all and Fred Jones was a popular name and I don’t know when/where he definitely died

Crowther Street is famous; although what’s there now isn’t what was there then.

Don’t know if this record would be of any help with a later address unfortunately you can’t download as it’s not been digitised https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/C8506859

There is this possible 1967 death entry you would need to order the certificate to check details

Frederick Jones Death Age 53
Registration Dec 1967 West Ham Greater London Volume   5e Page   779

I did do a page check with national archives but they weee unable to locate the requested material. Not sure why because I also gave them his seaman pouch ref number which I’d found.
I thought maybe the one in West Ham also but not 100% sure he died in 1967. I’ll maybe have to order it to check.
Is there anyway I can search for death if I possibly know who signed the certificate?
