Bastardy Records at Bristol Records Office

Can anyone confirm if Bristol Archives holds bastardy records for:

Bristol 1907-1911 and 1889-1892

If so and I pay a researcher what sort of info would I need to supply - I'm assuming child's name and dob - anything else?

Apart from registering your ID or the researchers ID if he or she is unknown to the archive staff, other than that, you don't have to supply any info about your family history officially only voluntary in helping find records and which any good researcher would discuss with you before going to the archives anyway.

My opinion/advice only

If you can't go to the Bristol Archives yourself, archives generally have a list of local researchers who will be fully accustom and conversant with their Bristol records, they will give you contact details for one of these researchers who work with archive staff admin regularly - where an outside researcher not local to the Bristol area from elsewhere would take much longer to navigate the archive Bristol records, taking them more time and cost more labour charges, (including travel cost and sustenance while in Bristol) for their services one would think.

Thank you both for replying.  I have now emailed Bristol Archives.  I have had contact with them in the past but not found them very helpful.  I don't think they will recommend a researcher but I will ask.

I needed a Bristol researcher some 11 years ago.
The Archive staff were very helpful, as was the researcher.

Have you tried AGRA? Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives https://www.agra.org.uk/

Use the "Find a Researcher" on the right-hand side.
A search should take you to Margaret  McGregor.

I think its down to individual members of staff, some can have a warm welcoming personality approach willing to be helpful and others can be a 'fuddy duddy' penpusher watching you don't nick a paperclip or upset their neatly arranged pencils. 

In some archives I've visited the staff are scared stiff of the archivist being similar to the headmaster in the old type of school environment.
