Yes, I can see by looking at online "trees" that BORMAN was the correct name. However, in one of your many threads re: this family, (or more the George JOHNSON family), the surname of Mary Ann was given as
BOWMAN. (And of course those "trees" also show that her siblings married as "BORMAN" )
Oddly, (also

) Mary Ann's mother is indexed as "Dinah
BOWMAN" on her re-marriage to MARSHALL.
My own guess at why BORMAN / BOWMAN have been confused, could be to do with the way the name was pronounced way back then ? But registrars and the clergy did make errors with spelling.

[Noticed too on a UK census (1871 I think) the handwriting of the surname looked more like "Bowman". ] When we endeavour to assist with queries, we will most often refer to, and rely on, the official BDM listings for information, rather than look at "trees" (sometimes containing misinformation).
