Hi Lnr,

I was hoping that the Crew List Index Project (CLIP) website might be helpful to you, but although it lists the SS Lyttelton and other vessel of that name there is no crew list that I can see:

You can search a wide variety of useful databases including vessel and crew name.

From my incomplete perusal of Papers Past articles reporting the Lyttelton's wreck and the subsequent inquiry no crew other than the captain were mentioned.

thanks for that My husbands 2xs grandfather called sailer Johnson said he was a stoker on a ship and jumped off at Timaru was just looking at another angle and maybe he was On the boat Lyttleton as the year he came was 1886 Also the captains name was Borman He ended up marrying Mary Ann Borman in Cust 1891 cant seem to find any connection as yet thanks lnr

her father was Allen BORMAN He died in 1882 Dont know how they came to BOWMAN must have been a registrars mistake thanks lnr

From research many years ago, I feel your best chance of finding records, would be those lodged by the Captain, as the boat left the Uk, on its yoyage to New Zealand.

The Captain's name was actually BOORMAN, Herbert Wild Boorman.

It looks like a typo, her father was Allen BORMAN.
