I can see the baptism of son William at Sydenham on 23 June 1751. Are there other children?

Not necessarily related, there is a family of Robert WIXON (WICKSON) at Eynsham in the same time period. You can see his will here:

Robert WIXON seems to be a yeoman farmer at "The Bowles", owned by Thomas COATES
(his will 1748: http://wills.oxfordshirefhs.org.uk/az/wtext/coates_002.html)

Children found so far: All baptised at Sydenham (FindMyPast)

Mary bap 22 March 1740  buried 24 October 1741
Elizabeth bap 19 December 1742
James bap 17 April 1745
Mary bap 29 May 1748
William bap 23 June 1751

If Mary was the first child 1740 then a marriage 1738-1739.
If they followed naming patterns
Mary would be the maternal grandmother's name.
Elizabeth would then be the paternal  grandmother's name .

William wixon B 1751 Sydenham, Oxfordshire, England his wife was

Anne Varnum was born in 1757 in Aston Rowant, Oxfordshire
They had 4 children

Have you tried going back and working forward.

William Wixson/Wickson died 1680 of Sydenham, according to his will (he was a Cooper) his wife was Eleanor, his children are William, Stephen, Robert and Mary. They are usually listed in birth order.
There is also an Ann Wickson widow living in one of his properties.

If your James was born circa 1717, one of the sons could be his grandfather, or in the event of a second marriage his father.

Are there wills or land records in the archives that could help?

I have looked and there are lots to get through with but I will try ...
Just a question he was born 1717 could his mother, dad family siblings etc have emigrated to the new world ?
Lots of wixons died in America and if so would they have documents..

Thanks for all your replies its just a stab in the dark
