Thanks Bearkat, very interesting,I looked through the Folkestone Directories but found nothing, no Richard or Hannah Mary Jones.
Thanks also DCB for the Scinde suggestion.
Rosie99,I still cannot find any info about that address, could the Jones's have lived there?

It’s in the 1939 register. But there is no one listed at that address

In 1921

Scindia, North Road, Llanbeblig, Caernarvonshire, Wales

mckha489--Now this is interesting, the 1921 census for this address shows a Richard Jones age 62 born Carnarvon, master mariner ret'd.Why would he name his house  Scindia if he wasn't employed by the Scindia Steam Navigation Co Ltd ?
Trying to find master mariner records.

A mention of Captain Richard JONES -
"JONES, Nov. 30, at 19. North-road, Carnarvon, aged 29, Marjorie Grant, the dearly-beloved wife of Captain Richard Jones (late Astracana), and was interred yesterday at Llanbeblig."
Saturday,  Dec. 4, 1897
Publication: Liverpool Mercury

A small obituary here, though again only mentions Richard JONES as Captain of the Astracana.
Saturday,  Dec. 4, 1897
Publication: North Wales Chronicle

He also saved a man from drowning, however no mention of previous ships:

Many thanks Maddys52, the Astracana was a large 4 masted sailing ship nearly twice the tonnage of the Cutty Sark.

Scindia, Orchid Crescent, Pitsea was a bungalow.

See note at the bottom of the page - It looks like this house was demolished before 1949.

There's a 1950 passenger list for the MV Caledonia (Anchor Line), from India, which includes a William W Brown who gives his UK address as "Scindia House, London".

I still think the scenario suggesting that rubble from bombed houses being dumped at Folkestone Warren is the most likely.

Looking at some old maps of Folkestone

https://webapps.kent.gov.uk/KCC.HeritageMaps.Web.Sites.Public/Default.aspx

Very few houses have names but in reality many would have, in addition to their house number.

I think every house in my road has a name. They have a pretty sign outside but the name is rarely used as part of the address.
