I don’t know anything about the divorce, but Wilga had quite a colourful family and with connections to the Balarat Jam Company
I don’t have any birth certificates
From all the investigations and help from RootsChat I think that Charles Barrie possibly married Wilga in a hurry, regretted it, was a drinker and philanderer and probably met Fay in 1927 or earlier when he was a traveller for paintings
From ship records we know that he was with Fay from at least 1930 and she is always referred to as Mrs Sutcliffe although that may not be true. They could have married elsewhere as the 1936 Trove article
“ She has already spent five years in New Zealand, a year in the South Seas, and several months in the southern States, which she will eventually revisit. When she finally leaves Queensland, however, she will return to England, she hopes, via Malay, Colombo, and Bombay”
I have tried to look for a Fay Hoban with a mother’s maiden name Granville which was their son Barrie’s middle name, but not had any luck
