The Lamont/Lamond of Braemar
« on: Friday 27 June 25 04:18 BST (UK) »
Hello

I need help please

my 5th Great Grandfather is Alexander Lamond born 14 September 1724 in Crathie & Braemar and died August 3rd 1816 in Edinburgh married to Margaret Fraser born 1724 in Crathie & Braemar. The married 8 Jan 1853 in Braemar.

I have Alexanders parents John Lamond and Mary Farquharson ( is this corerect)?

I have Margarets father as Duncan Fraser of Kindrochit, he may have died in Allanaquoich, Aberdeenshire, Scotland

If my information is corrent would you have johns parents and marys mother?

Note
The Lamond name may have changed prior to 1700 as "Mcllleduie" or Black. The name of alias McGillivi was used by some Lamond

Umm ..

Either I am misreading this or you have an error:

Quote

You can't mean that Alexander Lamond married 37 years after he died.

A typo? Or is the marriage other people with the same names - which is common in Scottish genealogy because of the way names were re-used in families.

Bill,

Hi, welcome to RootsChat. It would help if you supplied a bit more information, as you are no doubt aware there is a lot of name reuse in the Braemar area,
I can see an Alexander Lamond marrying a Margaret Fraser 26 Dec 1752. Him dying in Edinburgh is possible, but there are a fair few Lamonds in Scotland and this was a turbulent time so many records are missing, or just not filled in.
Have you made use of the SP records, they give more information such as Farm or Farm toun names to help with identification.
Don’t just rely on the index. You give Alexander born in 1724, but as far as I can see this is in fact Donald and has been miss indexed.

    Happy Hunting.
