There's a clue in a newspaper cutting on Ancestry that John, when he marries in 1940 in Rhodesia, is son of HRW and Mrs Brown of Sunningdale

This is him in 1911 with future wife Beatrice in the household

I think HRW Brown was a senior manager at a financial institution called the National Discount Company.

There's also an engagement of a younger brother announced in The Times in 1949 which gives the parents address as Shangri La

Matches up as 1911 gives us Harry Richard Woodman Brown and the younger son who gets engaged is Peter Woodman Brown
