My 2x gr grandfather, John Price (1810-1901) lived in Warminster. He married Elizabeth Sly 22 July 1832. He also married Elizabeth Dodimead in July 1833. His son, Francis was born in 02 March 1833 (almost 9 months after the Sly/Price marriage). I had assumed that our line was, therefore, descended from the Sly family of Warminster.
However, Eliza Dodimead invaded my family tree (appeared out of the blue on my Ancestry and then my FindMyPast trees). I ignored her - she could not be my ancestor. I have only today found the marriage dates of the two ladies. Still - she shouldn't be my 3x gr grandmother.
Ancestry DNA, though, gives me a match to Dodimead. So, surely she must be my ancestor. Unless, unless, the two Elizabeths were related (both born in 1810 in Warminster, both married at St Denis, Warminster).
I can't find a death for Eliz. Sly but am assuming that she did die in March 1833, or soon thereafter, leaving John free to marry Eliz Dodimead.
I can only investigate remotely from the Hebrides so, could anyone suggest a resource that I might use to dig deeper into this story - and to find out if I do have Sly ancestors as well as Dodimead?
