Edward Kilroy 1815
« on: Thursday 19 June 25 21:54 BST (UK) »
Hello

Can anyone help me please.

I am looking for Edward Kilroy, born 1815, and baptised at St Nicholas  Galway

I know he served in the Army in India, until he died in 1871.
He married Margaret ? But have not been able to find a marriage for them. Perhaps they married at home, before he went to India.

Any information greatly appreciated

Very little information on the parish register.

A couple of baptisms on same day (May 1834) in St. NIcholas North and East Catholic Church, Galway with father as Edward Kilroy and mother Margaret Dowd.

Thank you ALL for your responses

It seems I had the correct Edward Kilroy (from familsearch.org)
I found his son’s baptism, William in 1845 and James in 1854.

I have traced the family back, from my friends father ,born Bangalore in 1940.
I am quite positive about that. I just wanted to clarify that Edward was the head of this Army dynasty!
From Edward down, all Barry’s direct male ancestors, were born and served in India……. But he thought they had originated in Mayo, and he is going there in July!

He knows nothing at all about his family’s history. He is going to get a real surprise when I give him the tree I have done . Super

Thank you all again
