Kilroy surname
« on: Thursday 19 June 25 12:05 BST (UK) »
Could anyone tell me, where the name Kilroy is most popular please?
I am doing some research, for a friend of the same name.
He is going to Ireland next month to meet other people, but he has absolutely no idea, where is family origin is.

Most of his forebears, were born , and married in India, where they. We’re serving
In the army, in various Regiments.

I have got back to Edward Kilroy c1815 . He was the father of James Kilroy, who was born 19/06/1854 in Bangalore.

As I said, he is going to county Mayo…….But is this the correct County ?

Many thanks

John Grenham’s Irish Ancestors site would be my first stop for surnames.

Thank you Sinann

That looks a super site. I have had a brief look, and there does appear to be a lot of Kilroy in Mayo, so it may not be a wasted journey for Barry.

It may also help me with part of my Irish side…… McAuliffe. Who for what reason they used the name Gould on the British census’s.!
