Fraser family birth registrations 1822 Wigton
« on: Thursday 19 June 25 00:08 BST (UK) »
Hi
Parish of Wigton OPR recording 8 children born to James Fraser and Margaret Milligan.
Please can you help with the words to the left of the names?
.....to be registered.....July 29th 1822

Sorry the main image is fuzzy, struggled to get it under the 500kb size restriction.  (The original file is 1134KB, happy to redo if someone has a good method!)
The closeup snip of the words in question is better resolution

Many thanks

I think the first word is "Omitted" (sp.)

The final registration is 1822.  Probably the children born earlier than this date were never registered after their respective births for whatever reason, possibly financial.

Agree with:

Omitted to be
Registered all
this Date of
July 29th
1822

There were all sorts of reasons why baptisms weren't recorded at the time. Where you see particularly large numbers of "neglected entries" being recorded is in 1854 in the run-up to the introduction of statutory registration.
