Elusive Couple
« on: Tuesday 17 June 25 17:34 BST (UK) »
Hi all, I have decided that some assistance is needed on this one.
I have a birth of a Violet Rose on the 24th October 1901 at 4 Gladstone Buildings, Eversley Rd, Aston. The birth was registered by the mother on the 4th December 1901 of the same address in the Aston Registration District. The father is recorded as William Joseph Young, a Confectioner Journeyman and the mother as Mary Ann Young formerly Davies. I think the child was adopted by the time of the 1911 census and if I am right appears under a different name in that census.
I have not been able to find the parents in the 1901 census.
There is a possible marriage in the Pontypridd Registration District, Qtr 1, 1894.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Ray

Colin, Young and Davies seem to be quite common names and marriages between couples of that surname are not uncommon. Not sure if William Joseph Young was the spouse of Mary Ann Davies as 4 people on the page in 1894. Can't be the couple I am looking for if they were in Aston in 1897 not Knighton.
Carole, thanks for finding William Joseph Young b. 4 April 1897. I have downloaded the digital image. The address is 2 Windsor St, Aston and the father's occupation is Baker Journeyman, parents names identical.
I am tracing a DNA match and it connects to the side of my family that originates in South Wales and the West Country which is why I was drawn to the Pontypridd marriage. I also have Davies ancestors in South Wales.

In 1901 at 11, West Street, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England, is this couple. (I believe Polly is a reasonably common nickname for someone named Mary)

William   Young   Visitor   Married   Male   28   1873   Confectioner   Walsall, Staffordshire,
Pollie   Young   Visitor   Married   Female   26   1875   -   Wales
