It's cooling off now and a bit breezy, so more comfortable for doing things.  Rain may come, but yesterday we just had the odd short shower mid-day.

Recently I was looking for a pair of smart-ish navy shoes to complete my outfit for my nephew's wedding and was frustrated by the sandals and trainers which were on offer in the shoe shops.  I was passing a charity shop which had a closing down half price sale on and popped in to see what I could find.  No front fastening blouses, but a pair of lovely and obviously expensive navy shoes which were partly strappy and partly enclosed, moreover they were in my size, usually a very popular size so difficult to find.  I tried them on and found them to be both comfortable and smart.  At half price they cost £2.20, so I snapped them up  and am now ready for the wedding in a few weeks' time.

My wound is healing fast and is not sore, but by the end of the day my shoulder aches just from doing ordinary things (not above shoulder height, of course!).  The practice nurse told me that the shoulder has suffered "a lot of trauma" and bruising.  My daughter is coming round to wash my hair later this morning, thank goodness.  I will have it washed and blow dried at the hairdresser's the day before the wedding and hope to look smart, or at least as smart as an old lady can do, at the festivities.  We just want a warm, dry day.

I used to make my own clothes, then I made my daughters , no school uniform,  also made her a cardigan to match, not made my clothes for a  long time now even though i have a whizzy  machine, I worked in a materials  shop 12 hours a week, we paid cost price plus VAT, I still have a box of material  unused.. No shame in going to a charity shop, you  can always see how worn they are
Hot here in Essex,  hope it cools just a little.

Take care, keep cool.

It's cooler here today and there's quite a breeze. Perhaps it will ease the traffic, yesterday it was gridlock and terrible parking. Once again we have selfish drivers wanting to park as near the beach as possible, where there are double yellow lines on one side of the road to allow traffic to flow Instead  selfish idiots parked all along the pavement instead.

There's been illegal camping on the beach again and in the last three weeks three cars have been stranded in the sand, including a 4 x 4. It beats me how they have managed to down to the beach from the promenade. ???

Don't get me  started on the litter they leave behind, it gets worse every year, no wonder that part of our council tax has rocketed. If it was up to me  the government would bring in a law that has the beaches fenced off and visitors charged to gain access. Unfortunately that can never happen. It wasn't like that when I was young, everyone  either put their rubbish in the bins provided or took it home with them. I used to go down and swim in the evenings after work, there was never a mess like you see today. There's something to be said for being housebound, such problems don't affect me.

That's my moan for the day. ;D

Well, a grey wet day here, after a nice moderately warm start.

A quiet day altering a nice dressing gown which is far too big now.
Trying on some unworn and some worn once only outfits for grand daughter's wedding .
Everything is too big, so looking online for something nice and understated.
I am only a size 8-10 now,
I had made my mind up what I would wear but a little sleeveless  top I  wanted to wear under a really nice worn only once jacket shows my arms which are like a sparrow's legs.
Actually if I had to take off the really nice jacket and showed my arms people would probably throw money at me!

Have looked online ,some lovely outfits but I must remember I am 88, all the models are young .

Glad things are getting a bit better for you Gillig , but it is a long time to have a sore shoulder.

Talking shoes, at a bazaar at Church ,a lovely old lady was on the bric a brac
stall.Another lady joined her ,having driven to church,  she changed her driving shoes and put them behind the stall.
Went to get two cups of tea and had a little chat with the tea ladies.
On her return to the stall, with the teas, she was asked how much ought to have  been charged for the driving shoes ?
Yes,the first Lady had sold the other  lady’s shoes!

Well no book to read ,unless I re read something ,re read Cranford a little while ago. ,so must look for something else.

Good night everyone ,and let’s hope the trouble in the Near East is soon resolved .
There is an old saying “ Before you destroy something make sure you can replace it with something of value” , wonder how things would have been had The Shah of Iran had not been deposed?
I never fully understand these political situations.
Viktoria.

I still have an excess of fabric and wool, notions etc as well LM and only had machine out once I think since we moved here nearly 20 months ago, overlocker hasn't been used for longer and I've shifted them about today along with containers! I probably won't use most of it but can't just chuck it and perhaps granddaughters may take up sewing, oldest one is knitting quite well now at 11, I did show her earlier and she did a little with needles and a french knitting hoop. The 3 girls are our only grandchildren and same with their other grandparents, between us and aunts they are rather well clad so far with gifts from both and hand me downs and haven't needed to make much other than doll's clothes, paternal aunt loves shoe shopping for herself and now them! I bought sewing machines for our girls, youngest used hers a lot and now has upgraded and always making things.
I do look out for best prices when buying anything new, as most of us probably do, more stuff than I really need at times but don't discard easily and try to find another home or donate if items no longer useful to me ... or just hang onto something for yonks! I don't like food waste either, so fairly careful with all that.

That sounds worth a moan Jebber! Most of the time our nearby beach has reasonable parking though there isn't really enough especially on event days and public holidays and nearby streets including ours fill up and some finding it harder to park near work now too as area grows. Council has some ideas that many are objecting to as some parking will be lost, a meeting tomorrow night which will be well attended with some debate views expressed I'm sure and a couple of reps from our street are going. No camping at beach and it's pretty clear mostly,  and dog owners pretty good too, there is a big campground with some beach frontage and there's freedom camping allowed at the next bay along.

As Viktoria often mentions re perspective, we could have it a lot worse than home with what we hear, gives some interesting perspectives of her own image though eh  ;) ;)

Lovely to have something nice to look forward to while you're healing Gillg, fingers crossed for a splendid day too when it arrives   :)

Must get back to attending to the dinner !!

Yes Jebber, park on the beach and this is what can happen when the tide comes in. Looks like the tide has come in and gone back out.

The plight of one was featured on the BBC news, looks like a nice vehicle too, what a shame
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c0j7jxz7z7vo

From my own family observations, I think we have been sold a big myth that inflammation, associated health and other conditions can be prevented in every person by an intervention, from what I have actually seen happen to those I love.

I've seen some of my family either get worse or develop this hyper-progressive brain degeneration, started with losing their balance and having falls. One being active to needing 24/7 care in a Bupa Nursing Home, one ended up in the ITU due to falling and fracturing her skull.

So I'll have a little dry red wine daily, with my ground spices and blueberries, with a couple of pineapple rings or other fruit on my porridge breakfast, fresh raspberries, fruit, my natural unsweetened organic yogurt, walnuts with one square of 90% dark (no additive) chocolate, also a daily hot milk Cacao drink from lightly roasted and ground cacao beans, a daily banana and a few nice strawberries occasionally, sometimes sardine sandwiches, eating a tomato and part of a cucumber daily, or cheese and tomato toasties occasionally, too and a healthy diet of lean cooked meats and fish like salmon, potatoes and veg, to modulate the inflammatory response that comes after an immune response.
