   Hi, that is his son, I was really interested in the father to see if I could get his parents. It has been a long-standing mystery.

hi there are a number of articles on TROVE regarding John and his kilts, also another obit which lists his children,  so suggest a search on Trove using Fletcher and Kilts, if you have not already checked.

  Thanks very much, obviously a useful resource Trove.
  Yes. There seems to be a bit of confusion about John Fletcher, there were two of them born in about 1806 and the other 1809, within 10 miles of each other.
   I am pretty sure the 1806 one is the the one who died in 1885 in Inverell. All the names tie up.
