Is the son still alive?  If not - when & where did he die?

Did he marry - when & where

No marriage or death for son in England /Wales/Scotland

Where do they fit into your FH

There are 2 births for an Albert George Mullis - 1921 & 1926 but nothing for Laura as Beer or Worth & no Beer/Worth marriage

You need to remove the name of the son from your reply as he is still alive & Rootschat have a no living persons policy

Click on the modify button in the top right hand corner of your reply to remove his name

Hello
I'm not getting too far on this.Maybe it's the computer at the Library which has just had it's software updated and can't work properly on Ancestry or FindMyPast but I'm just not getting too far.
I've got the mother on the 1939 index
7 E Cornwall St Plymouth
Laura Mary Beer married born 4.12.1910
No one else in household is BEER/Worth/Mullis

She died 19.1.1961 in Exeter as Laura Mary Crook.  £458.She was of Prince Maurice Road Lipson single woman who died Greenbank Hospital Plymouth.D/C index says born 1906.
Probate granted to Joan Violet Nixon wife of Malcolm.
Joan Violet Nixon was born Beer and married Mr Nixon Mar 1954 Plymouth.
Born 28.3.1932 mmn Wood at Exeter Died as Dutton Sep 1999 Salisbury.
Joan seems to have 2 siblings but is in Exeter childrens Home 1939.

Going back to Laura she married William G Crook Plymouth Mar 1955

I'm struggling to find her before 1939.The Will and her 1955 marriage would help. It's quite possible Joan is her daughter. I just can't see that Beer marriage.

As for the father Albert George Mullis.
The most likely candidate is a sailor from Nuneaton
13.7.1921-24.4.1946 .He died of TB  Everard Road Attleborough.
He was already married with a son. Both of whom seem to be still alive.(nice photos of the family on Ancestry).

The other man Albert George Mullis 9.3.1926 Lambeth mmn Betteridge- Oct 1994 Hastings .But I can't see what he would have been doing in Plymouth.

But nothing to really tie he down at the moment.
Will keep digging

Does your first cousin have a copy of either her birth cert or her adoption records showing what surname she was registered as before her adoption?

Thank you so much for you time on this, much appreciated, some great information,so this is what I know now, Laura married Ernest Beer in 1928,but sure she was married before to a Wood. But can't find anything on that,so my cousin has her birth certificate, born 1976 mothers maiden name Andrews, but she's adamant that she's not her mum,she showed her a photo of my uncle which was taken a month before my cousin was conceived and she didn't have a clue who he was,she looks nothing like her mother, she did ask her if she would take a DNA test but point blank refused.Thats all I have really.Thank you

Hi
That's really interesting.
Joan V Beer's younger sister Stella Mary Beer was born end of 1933 registered Mar 1934 at St Thomas Devon.
She married a Mr Ronald Henry Andrews Sep 1953 Exeter
Ronald Henry 8.7.1929-2.5.1993 Exeter  at 82 Bowhay Lane Exeter 1939.
Still can't see Stella on 1939 index but she marries under the surnames Beer and Dyer so perhaps fostered or adopted?
Any way they have 2 children 1955 and 1956.A Daughter and son.

Stella remarried after Ronald's death Feb 1998  and died in 2021 at Exeter.
Stella M Lee 29.12.1933- 12.5.2021.

So if your cousin is the grandchild of Stella ,she would be the great granddaughter of Laura Mary Worth/Wood /Beer/Mullis/Crook.
So it would all fit.
Does that help?
Anything sound familiar?

Hi me again
I've found Laura
She was born 4th Dec 1905 at Axminster .Reg Mar 1906  .
Parents Thomas George Wood 1872 Musbury farm labourer - Sep 1929 Axminster and Bessie Ann /Elizabeth Ann Sanson 5th Dec 1875-June 1958 Honiton.
Her exact date of birth comes from her father's military records and fits with her Birthday on the 1939 index but is out for the year. It's the right year and age for her death Registration.
The family lived at Colyton near Axminster.

I can't spot a photo of her but there are a couple of her brother and sisters on online trees on Ancestry.- brother Alfred Walter born 11.11.1894 ,Arthur James 24.9.1918 and Hilda Evelyn born 2.6.1920.

The Worth bit wasn't her maiden name.whether she lived with a Mr Worth at sometime I don't lnow but it looks like a red herring.

ps there are photos online for the possible Mullis chap and his family too.
