Hi, I have not been able to find George Ormsby Powell (abt.1820-1853) before the 1851 census where he is married with children in Chipping, Wotton Under Edge, Dursley, Gloucestershire. It says he was born in Bristol, Gloucestershire but I've not found any proof of this.
I just found some birth and death records for various people in France with the names Ormsby Powell and thought this was a strange combination of names not to be related.
- Catherine Ormsby Powell born 9th Sep 1822 in Le Havre, Seine-Maritime, Upper Normandy
- Amelia Powell born 19 July 1828 in Le Havre, Sein-Maritime, Upper Normandy
Amelia Powell death 29 September 1867 in Seine-Inferieure, France
- Julia Ormsby Powell death aged 8 on the 11 July 1835 in Ingouville (born in Grasville, Lheure)
All three were the daughters of a George Ormsby Powell and Mary Trotman.
As well as this, my George Ormsby Powell had daughters called Amelia Ormsby Powell and Julia Ormsby Powell. It seems too much of a coincidence not to be connected, but I have no proof tying him to these people in France. I can't access any French records, I have just been using things off of family search, if anyone could help me that would be much appreciated!
