Looking for Richard Mitchell and Annie Bourke
« on: Friday 13 June 25 04:49 BST (UK) »
Looking for any info on the above people. From what I've been able to find out so far is that they had a son John in Cowra, New South Wales, Australia in 1873. John married Susan Murray in Goodooga NSW in 1905.

I don't see his birth on the indexes.

I presume the info on John's birth is from his marriage certificate?
Can you tell us all the info there including occupation for Richard and who the witnesses were?

The only info I have is from the marriage certificate.

John's occupation was a Labourer and Susan was domestic duties.

Richard is also down on the certificate as a Labourer.

Witnesses were J. Taylor and D. Carter

I haven't been able to find anything regarding the couple specifically. There is a tree on ancestry that has that John MITCHELL died in Queensland in 1957, however searching the Qld BDM the death this is most likely referring to has parents Archibald and Jeaneth MacOUGALL. Do you know where John died?

It might be an idea to move thi sthread ot the Australia board. I'll ask a moderator to move it :D

Ignore this death - not the right one.

The brief tree I can see shows a death for Richard Mitchell, 1887.

NSW family history site shows this death:
District: Cowra - reg no. 7148/1887
Richard H Mitchell
Father's name William H
Mother's name, Selina

However, Ancestryindexes show other Mitchell births with parents William H and Selina which are much later so would need to be checked.
Example : Edwin A died 1926

***Family Search/Find a Grave shows Selina Lock Mitchell and mentions Richard Henry 1886-1887

Do you know where John died?

No idea. I know he had a parcel of land in Nebine that he worked with his family but beyond that nothing. His wife ended up moving to Cunnamulla in the mid 1920s when her daughters got sick and stayed there until she died in 1944. So maybe he died in the 1920s?
