Edith Sutton 1885 Great Wakering
« on: Thursday 12 June 25 13:33 BST (UK) »
Hello all

Trying to find Edith Ellen Sutton in 1911.  I have her in 1901 living with her mother Sarah Ann Sutton she is listed as Nellie & I’m fairly certain this is Edith Ellen.

I have her in 1921 married & living in Walthamstow.  I just can’t find her in 1911.

It could be the following one but I’m not convinced as her age 15 is a bit out (1896) & there was an Edith Mabel Sutton born 1896 in the Orsett RD.
6 Capel Terrace, Southend on Sea
Harry S Ogden   M            51           Clerk      East Bridgeford Notts
Janet OGDEN     M            45                           Lincolnshire
Maud OGDEN   S              20                           Milliner Tottenham
Edith SUTTON   S              15                           Gen Servant       Orsett

Can anyone please help me find another more likely candidate in 1911 for Edith Ellen Sutton 1895 born Gt Wakering.

Thank you
K

Looking like a possible - there were no Lutton births registered seemingly in that area around 1895+/-  & the L looks suspiciously like it could be an S on the original.   A bit more investigation needed but it’s looking more likely than the Southend one.

Thank you

If you are not already aware the letters L and S are  often miss transcribed, especially in census transcriptions. It is not unusual for someone to think they have found a Lawyer in their family only to discover later he was Sawyer.

Thank you Jebber- I was brung in the 50s & we learnt proper handwriting with a wooden handle pen with a nib & pot of ink in the front of the desk so I appreciate it’s all in the loops or lack of them 😂.  I rather suspect that’s exactly the case Lutton is not a popular surname by any stretch of the imagination
