Children of Thomas and Rose Peck

Thomas Peck married Rose Eltham on 31 July 1893 at Oxford, St Thomas.
In the 1901 census, they are living at 5, Godfrey Yard St Ebbes. They have four children
Thomas 7
Wm John 5
Gertrude A 10months
William 4

I have found the following:
Birth registration for a Thomas Bertie Peck Q4 1894 but with mothers maiden name Smith and a baptism in Oxford of a Thomas Bertie Beck with parents Thomas and Rose (record says born on 8 Sept 1894).
Birth Registration for William Peck (no middle name) Q1 1896, and a baptism parents Thomas and Rose born 19 Feb 1896. Se he's OK
Nothing for William John
Birth reg for Gertrude Alice Q2 1900 and baptism giving date of birth as 20 May 1900.
Can anyone find anything for William John? Odd they would have two sons called William, unless they listed a dead child on their census form.

Moving on to 1911, Thomas, Rose and family are living at 58 High Street, St Thomas Oxford
They have had 9 children, of whom 5 are still living
With them on census day are
Gertrude  11
Burtie  9
Florrence 7
Solomon 5
William  11 months

I have found birth regs for Bertie, Florence and Solomon, but nothing for William (b 1910)

Counting up the children, only Gertrude from the 1901 has survived, so assume the other 3 have died. So apart from no other records of William John, who is the 9th child who must have been born (presumably sometime after Thomas and Rose's marriage) and who has died before census day 1911?

Please can anyone sort out this family?

The image of the original gives the Registration District as Headington, and I'm guessing that Elton should read Eltham.

There is also a Death reference for a William Peck Jun 1911 Oxford 3a 530 age 1

This may or may not be the same William. You would need to get the certificate to be certain.

If the William born Mar 1896 Oxford 3a 862 mmn Eltham was born 19 February 1896 then he is living at 74 Lytton Road, Oxford in 1939 and dies at that address 12 February 1968

Thank you, that looks like William's (1910) birth registration. Elton is one of the many variants of Eltham. That is likely to be his death. I have found his burial record on 1st June 1911. Address is 58 High street.

But as he is listed on the census, he won't be one of the four children who died before census day (2nd April).

William Peck Mar 1968 Oxford 6b 1374 age 71

The dob of 19 Feb 1896 was on the baptism record, so if he is on the 1939 register, he can't have died pre- 1911. But that means Thomas and Rose had two Williams at the same time.
This is getting more confusing.
Unless they misunderstood the question on the 1911 census and thought it meant the number of children then living with them, of which there were 5 listed on the census form.

I think I've found Gertrude Peck in 1921, a boarder with William Harding and his wife Alice. Age a bit out, but Rose Eltham had a younger sister called Alice who married a William Harding. And also in the household is a "Mrs Alatham mother" a 75 year old widow b Abingdon.
Another variant of Eltham to add to the list of 42 I already have  . 

Bertie (1902) got done on three counts of stealing and spent 1921 census night in Feltham Borstal. Also found his marriage and death.
Solomon's in a Reformatory in Northamptonshire, haven't found what he did yet, but it says both parents alive on the record, so they should be around in 1921, but not found them yet.
Still haven't found Thomas Bertie (1894) after his birth / baptism.

There's a baptism for a Frederick John s/o Thomas and Rose Peck, birth 1 Jan 1898, no birth reg but there is a George John Peck reg Q1 1898 Oxford mmn Alton (variant # 14) which could be the same person, if the parents had forgotten what they had decided to call him.

Isn't Thomas Bertie the same as Thomas who's on 1901?

There's a Thomas the right age b Oxford in Northampton Society's Reformatory for Boys, Tiffield, Towcester  in 1911

Should he be one month and not 11 months in 1911???

Based on a child every 2 years there is one missing 1908.
