Who his parents were

Normally I'd agree with Bumble ,but
Is this the Fred Reed that moves to Leicester ?
If so you may want to look at the 1939 index from which he seems to be blacked out but with other siblings Reed/Gregory in Leicester.
It seems to give a mother Irene May Reed and earlier censuses give her born 1895 Plymouth.
Her husband William Frederick Phillip Reed born 1891 Tipton Staffs .A marriage Dec 1916 at East Stonehouse. William Frederick  Reed and Irene May Gregory.(Her parents William and Florence).

Fred senior was a sailor in the First World War.He signed up 5.6.1910 -7.1.1920 .Pupil teacher from Tipton. DOB given as 3.6.1891 but other records suggest March 1891.
5' 5i/2 inches auburn hair fresh complexion grey eyes  Mole centre of back.
Previous attempt to join Worcestershire Reg 20.10.1908- 5.1.1909 gives father as William Reed 18 Railway St Tipton and younger brother Harry.
There is a picture of him on his Merchant seamans card on FindMyPast.
He died Lutterworth 22.2.1966 of Woodmarket House.£678 to widow Irene May.
Irene May 7.4.1895- Mar 1975 Leicestershire Central.

Do you know more about Fred? Did he have brothers Barnard and Harold or a sister Marion amongst others?

Sometimes it's best to double check before you do all the work and get back to the year dot.

It is the first result on the list.
