Hi, Yes, I looked this morning at the newspaper clip when he got married and he was from Bombay, and also I found he moved back here in 1928 with his family, father, mother and younger brother to live in Pall Mall London by boat.
It also said his father was a Mus. Director? Museum maybe??
So the two boys were probably born in India, don't know if there are birth records for there or where they might be??

Christopher Gilbert Dowden born 1883 in Gloucestershire, son of a schoolmaster Frederick Christopher Dowden.
1901 census sees Christopher, age 19 in London, working as a piano tuner.

I think he had a second marriage in India to Mary Ann Webb in 1923.

He died in Bournemouth in 1943.

I'm not sure which website you are viewing newspapers from but there is an article about an appeal which names your grandmother, I'm not sure if you want me to post it here. I have found at FindMyPast and the British Newspaper Archive search for DOWDEN, 16th January 1937, Hampshire Telegraph.

Let me know if you want me to post it.
