Sorry, meant the ones we hadn't found so far. William looks a match

I already have Thomas and Ann in Catherstone.

In 1871 I search for DOONER but only get DOWNER & DEGNER.

In 1891 I get "Your Search for Doverner returned zero good matches".

That seems very odd.

How did you find the details you gave, please?

Zaph

No sign of the boys

Don't you think the William I found in 1891 is the right one?

Yes, that's one of them.  Thank you.
I tried endless wild searches!

In 1871 I search for DOONER but only get DOWNER & DEGNER.

That is strange because he is transcribed as William Dooner on both Ancestry and FindMyPast. I just did a simple search for William Dooner on Ancestry and he came out top of the list  :-\

To find him I noted that the two daughters with him in 1881 had been born in Stockton. So it seemed possible that he'd been living there in 1871.

So i searched for a William D*r in Stockton born c. 1836. Dooner looked like a possible match, and so it was  :)

In 1891 I get "Your Search for Doverner returned zero good matches".

Did you search using the census reference I gave? That should find him.

If you are using Ancestry you will find him as William Doveanes.

I found him on FindMyPast where he is transcribed as William Doverner.

Jen, I have William's dob as 1878,

DOVENOR, WILLIAM  EDWARD  (WILSON)  GRO Reference: 1878  M Quarter in HARTLEPOOL  Volume 10A  Page 125

but his age in 1891 is given as 15.  Do you think that that is just a clumsy error?  I do think it's the right boy.

How did you find him?  Thank you.

How did you find him?  Thank you.

As per my previous reply, I found him on FindMyPast. I searched William Dov*r living in either Hartlepool or Stockton Registration Districts, and had only three results, two named Dover and the third Doverner  :D

Thanks Jen, that was slightly different to your earlier reply, which threw me.

Did you have any luck with any more of the three boys?
