Dovenor family, Hartlepool, 1891
« on: Friday 06 June 25 17:29 BST (UK) »
I've searched old messages, and found mentions of this family, but nothing that helps me.

I'm looking for three brothers in Hartlepool in 1891.  Edward, James & William Dovenor,

At ages 19,18 & 21, they were boarding at 10, Redworth Street in 1901, RG13/4640.

They were the sons of William Dovenor & Jane Wilson, married in Stockton in the June qtr 1864.  As well as the boys, they also had several daughters who all died in infancy, including the sad tale on this attached cutting. I'd also like to find William & Jane, the parents, in 1871.

The family is at Stockton Street, Hartlepool in 1881, RG11/4910

I have tried endless alternative spellings, wild card searches etc.  If anyone finds these people, please say how you found them, as I am bewildered.

Zaph

Are the parents alive in 1881?

As the boys were quite young I would check the grandparents first if you haven’t already.  Often young children were with grandparents on a census.

Ditto - just found them on FindMyPast, also transcribed as Dooner. To be fair - it does look a bit like Dooner.

The surname has been written as Dovner.

Always useful to track down and check the siblings. Ann is with Thomas. Jane is with her future husband. No sign of the boys

Looks like the father died in 1888, so possibilities include mother remarrying and being indexed under stepfather's surname not found evidence of that yet) or being in an institution listed by just their initials

Don't you think the William I found in 1891 is the right one?
