Piper family of Breage
« on: Friday 06 June 25 15:12 BST (UK) »
Hi

My 4 x great grandmother Sarah Piper was born in Bristol St Phillip/Jacob circa 1778, the daughter of John Piper and Mary (possibly Watkins)

There are several Ancestry trees with John Piper listed as coming from Breage, born circa 1743
I am unsure where to seek out more information on the possibility of the Pipers from Breage and wondered if there was a Breage expert on the board

Thanks
Richard

Those trees have Sarah's father being born in Breage and baptised in Petrockstowe, Devon some 95 miles away   :-\. They then have him marrying in Bristol where Sarah was born then he dies back in Cornwall in 1810.

John Pipers occupation was a Tanner.  The families abode was The Plain on both their marriage and the baptism of their son John in 1774.  Son John remained in Bristol.

Have you done a DNA test to link your Pipers back to Breage.

One of the witnesses to the marriage of John Piper and Mary Watkins was Betty Piper.

There is a baptism in Bristol 16 Feb 1752 for a Betty Piper with a father Humphry Piper.  Other siblings were Judith bapt 21 Jun 1761 and Mary bapt 17 Nov 1754

There was a marriage in Taunton, Somerset 11 Jul 1750 between Humphrey Piper and Judith Moth

Hi Rosie99

Thank you for your swift input

I have done Ancestry DNA but not sure what to do with it regarding the Pipers

You need to see if you have any Piper matches that have Humphrey and his family in their tree
