I’d be very grateful for some help in tracking down records of members of the Watson family, and their descendants if any, with a starting point of the 1921 census conscious that information about living people shouldn’t be disclosed on RC.

To mention I don’t subscribe to Ancestry.com.

The 1921 Census for Aberlour has Margaret J Watson, widow, aged 42, Cycle Agent, Aberlour at 113 High Street.

Her 6 children aged 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, sister and a boarder are shown.

I’m interested in finding out more about the family in particular what happened to the siblings to fill in gaps in the records and possibly signpost to any living descendants.

I’ve listed what I have found so far about individuals with questions.

Mother, Margaret Jane Watson (MS Smith)
B  4 Oct 1878 Nairn
M  15 Aug 1902 to George Watson, Master Plumber, Forres
D. 19 Jun 1937 Hillhead, Glasgow

Q Any other children?

Christina Ann Watson
B  18 Oct 1902 Elgin
M  2 Apr 1932 to George McDonald, Farmer, Lower Cabrach, Huntly

Q: Were there any children and when did they both die?

George Alexander Watson
B 19 Aug 1905
M 2 Jan 1933 to Annie Jack Cumming
D 1 Sept 1994 (Minister of Guthrie and Rescobie)

Q Any children, when did Annie die?

Margaret Anne Watson
B 5 July 1907, Aberlour
No further records found

Q Did Margaret marry, have any children and when did she die?

Marian McKinnon Watson
B 21 Jun 1909, Aberlour
No further records found.

Q Did Marian marry, have any children and when did she die?

Alice Edith Watson
B 3O Jul 1911, Aberlour
M 17 Dec 1934, Robert Gordon Simpson, Physician and Surgeon

Alice is a witness at Christine Ann’s wedding in 1932, address 4 Mill Crescent, Buckie.

Q Were there any children and when did they both die?

Isabel Mary McKenzie Watson
B 23 Oct 1923, Aberlour
No further records found.

Q Did Isabel marry, have any children and when did she die?

All answers very welcome!

Sorry should have said, yes all the information I’ve found has been from Scotland’s People with one entry in Libindx about George Alexander Watson’s death.

I have tried and failed to get any more information from SP than reported.

Thank you so much Ciderdrinker, delighted with all the information you’ve kindly found which I’ll follow up with huge interest, not mad in any way!

Very much appreciated, you have found more in under an hour than I had managed in some weeks…

Not sure if you have a particular favourite cider, I was a student in Bath very many years ago and used to down ‘diesel’ a combination of rough and blackcurrant. The old boys in the pub explained this was the best way to actually swallow the rough cider on offer, I tried it neat once, it felt like my mouth and tongue had sprouted hairs..

Now to get stuck in to the fantastic information you’ve found and follow up all the leads!

Very best wishes,
