Hillman, Eliza & Daughter 1861 census
« on: Monday 02 June 25 19:32 BST (UK) »
A little help with a recent find that had thrown me a little.

I was looking for some of the wife's family and I came across the 1861 census With Eliza Hillman on Ancestry - Eliza Hillman 1861.

There is Eliza Hillman originally from Brighton which I knew (Need more on her but that'll be later. once I sorted out this)
There is Susannah Hillman ... hold on a moment ... FISK? a Widow? Who is FISK?
And a son Henry Fisk ?

OK I am now pretty darn confuzzled.

When Susannah was married to Francis Henry Hill in 1862 she was listed on the marriage cert as Susannah Hillman.

I'm not sure I've got my head around this but to my doofus brain I'm guessing.

Alexander Hillman married Eliza.
They had Susannah in 1839 in Lambeth.
Susannah married someone called Fisk.
Susannah had Henry
Susannah became a widow.
Susannah Married Francis Henry Hill in 1862 and went on to live life until she dies in Cane Hill Asylum, Coulsdon.

How does this sound ?

She is also recorded as a spinster on the marriage certificate.

Yep.
Its pretty confuzzling

I can't locate a Fisk (or fish) marrying  Hillman.

I have found a birth of Henry Fisk born 1858 in St Savours Southwark but I think its the wrong one

Me neither, but he is with his mother and stepfather in 1871 as Henry Hillman “son-in-law”. After that, I haven’t found him.
