Could you post a larger snip of the certificate, showing more writing, in case it gives any clues?

Did you get this image online? Can you either give us a link to it or enough detail for us to find it ourselves?
Sometime the scan from one site may be better from another if there is an alternate offering on another site

Well its obviously a marriage by Banns so must have been in a church - telling us which denomination/parish/ when/who may result in someone being able to point you to the PR - either an image or a transcript from the original.

Have you found him on a census?  His occupation my be clearer.

1921 census has Labourer Hawker
1926 marriage has Railway Porter
1939 Register has Timber Sorter

1950 death has Electrician but I believe this to be incorrect!!
