Perhaps the plot was originally sold to one of the Weston/Wright family? And they decided they no longer needed it, or time ran out on the lease, so when Mary Eliza took her 3rd surname of Hall, the Hall family decided to buy the remaining lease?

How do you know (without the certificate) that Mary Eliza married a DIFFERENT John Hall?

How does your line run -- from John Hall to who? Can you post a summary of the info you have about that generation so we can double check? Because I really do wonder if things are much simpler than you think. It's so easy to go astray with a common surname!

(Edited to add- I've had a look at some of your other threads about the Halls and a (possible?) Barrow on Soar link - and yes, I'm confused! Was your grandfather John William Hall? In your first post on this thread, you refer to John Hall as both grandfather and great grandfather).

Yes sorry about that my mistake  :( . John Hall was my Great Grandfather. John William Hall was his first son ( making him my Grand Uncle ).

Have sent you a pm.

Oh dear, JWH met a grisly end - I've just read about the inquest on his death in the paper - it mentions his mother in law, Ada Bruce, but no other family members.

Absolutely, not very nice reading that for the first time. Ada Bruce was his Mother in Law ( the mum of his wife Lilian ).

Would like to clarify that I have obtained information to confirm my Great Grandfather married for a third time, albeit and sadly very briefly.

John Hall married Mary Eliza Weston as per the details Alan Boyd gave in reply #5 of this thread.

Many many thanks to everyone that participated in this topic for their time researching on my behalf to help me solve the conundrum of who was/is buried at Gilroes ;D
