Uniform / Medal Identification

Hello!

This is my great grandfather John Finney b1898

He served in WW1 in the RAF working on an airfield in France just behind the trenches as an engineer repairing and maintaining planes.

Im unsure if this uniform was related to his military service as he looks a little older. Possibly it might be for his fire watching duties in WW2 at home instead.

I would love to know anything about the uniform or medal worn.

I would agree he looks a little older there so probably not WW1 related.
