Hi,

In 1911 Anneslee Hope Road, Shanklin, Isle of Wight, was a lodging house. The head of household was a Melissa Jenetta LONG. I wonder if he was on holiday there.

It might be a coincidence but next door at St Brelades, Hope Road, Shanklin, Isle of Wight was another lodging house, head of household was a widow Elizabeth WILLIAMS b.1846, Nursling Hampshire.

Regards,
Daisy

This post grew some legs after I posted the image. I was led to believe by op that in no way was this his death?

He was in hospital there. I think his family stayed in the lodging house.

I didn't think it was but I did say it was the right age, right name and right occupation. The problem was his daughter was Ethel Victoria Maud and there was a completely different name on the death certificate for her. However, I think that was a mistake as it seems the person present at his death was his granddaughter and not his daughter. I believe this is the right death now. Thank you.

I think it is the daughter on the death certificate, as it says, Eileen M
The grand daughter, Eileen, was only a year old at this time.

His daughter was called Ethel. He didn't have a daughter called Eileen. I think it must have been Ethel who was with him and they mistakenly put her daughter's name. That's probably going to be a mystery that can't be solved. People do make mistakes.

The daughter Ethel goes between Eileen & Ethel.  See various posts.

There's loads of voter's lists where I can check from year to year and work it all out. Ethel lived at the same address for several years. I've just realised my great grandfather died on Christmas day. I think he probably knew how to have a party. I wish I'd known him. Thank you so much for your help.
