then Moorland Cottages:
Jeffrey Iveson, platelayer

But it's Moorcock Cottages according to his census return

Thanks ShaunJ that was a typo. now corrected.

Moorcock Cottages are next to the railway line.

Scroll down to the photos and page through them - there's a view of the Moorcock Inn.

Yes, agreed, this looks correct – on the map I linked to they are the terrace tucked in where the road rail bridge crosses the railway road, on the east side of the line.

Another platelayer killed there in 1894:

25 August 1894: Darlington & Stockton Times, Ripon & Richmond Chronicle

Quote
KILLED ON THE RAILWAY NEAR HAWES JUNCTION. — On Thursday morning, about seven o'clock, the body of James Slinger, a single man (30), was discovered laid dead on the main railway leading from Hawes to Carlisle just outside of Hawes Junction. His skull was frightfuily smashed, and it was evident that he had been killed by a passing train shortly belore he was was found, as he had not long left his home, Moorcock Cottages. He was to attend to his duties as platelayer, and the position in which he was found as in the section apportioned for his work. It is surmised that he had walked into the train after passing another. Great regret is expressed at the fatal accident, as deceased was much respected.

This is looking east along the A684, just emerging from under the railway. Moorcock Cottages on the left and the Moorcock Inn in the distance straight ahead.
